Rivers, lakes and ponds make urban areas such as Berlin particularly worth living in. Purpose and use of the waters are manifold: they serve as a waterway, as a space for recreation and leisure activities, as a habitat for animals and plants, for drinking water or as sewage outfall, also the waters are often integrated into complex urban planning regulations. At the 8th "Dialog am Müggelsee" on Tuesday, December 11th 2018, the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) will focus on the ecological aspects of urban waters.
