Living River Liesing

The restoration of river Liesing in Vienna included the following activities:

• Remodeling of all low weirs
• Removal of grouted pavement and construction of a substrate-covered and widened riverbed
• Creation of shallow water zones, gravel banks and sedimentation zones
• Different bottom widths, flow velocities and water depths
• Natural remodeling and planting of the embankments
• Use of biological engineering construction methods for bank protection
